Fundamentals In Rigging:
For Workers and Supervisors.
This is a one-day, CERTIFICATION training course covering the basics in Rigging Theory.
This course consists of six hours of theory and ideally, two hours of evaluation on the work
site if possible. The work site evaluation allows our instructors to effectively integrate
the theory instruction with your particular application. The ideal maximum participants per
day is 10 people, however more can be accommodated depending upon space limitations.
Participants are tested and upon successful completion, will receive a wallet-card,
a wall-sized certificate and a comprehensive training manual.
Course Outline:
- Legislated duties & responsibilities of workers and supervisors regarding material handling equipment.
- The difference between a "Competent" and "Qualified" person.
- Regulations covering Rigging requirements with Industrial Establishments and Construction Projects.
- Distinguishing Safe Working Load from Breaking Strength and other Rigging terms.
- Synthetic Rope - distinguishing the different types and inspection criteria for all.
- Wire Rope - its properties, performing inspection and maintenance techniques.
- Chain - the various grades, their use and inspection.
- Slings - synthetic, chain and wire rope; general use, angle capacity reduction, and inspection.
- Rigging Hardware - use and inspection.
- Block and tackle.
- Hand Signals for Rigging.
- General Equipment Inspection.
